Math Moves U

Raytheon's MathMovesU is an innovative program designed to engage middle school students with math at an age when their interest in the subject typically declines. Raytheon believes that tomorrow's engineers and technologists need to be excited by and interested in math today.

MathMovesU helps connect middle school students to math on their own terms by engaging them with content that appeals to things they are most passionate about such as sports, music, and fashion, while delivering math subject matter in engaging ways like games, polls, and fun math facts, all set within a “virtual world.”

Headbone Derby

Use the Headbone Derby to teach the Internet for Free!
These Internet research activities are packed with puzzles your class will
solve by finding information online! Your students learn Internet research
skills while investigating topics such as technology, history, and more.

Headbone Interactive, Inc. Recognized the need to provide students and
teachers with a safe, structured, and fun tool with which to explore the
Internet and practice on-line research. Drawing on our history as an award
winning developer of children's interactive software and our commitment to
providing creative tools for today's teachers, we have designed the Headbone
Derby.
Simply defined, the Headbone Derby is a series of on-line research
adventures that provides students with an engaging structure within which
they learn and conduct Internet research. Make sure your class is ready to
participate! You may sign your students up as a team, or they may sign up as
individuals. Once that's done, we'll be able to keep track of their Derby
scores. And they'll be able to explore the other areas of the Headbone Zone
as well.

Strange Science

Ever wonder how people figured out there used to be such things as
dinosaurs? Curious about how scientists learned to reconstruct fossil
skeletons? The knowledge we take for granted today was slow in coming, and
along the way, scientists and scholars had some weird ideas. This Web site
shows some of their mistakes, provides a timeline of events, gives
biographies of a few of the people who have gotten us where we are today,
and lists resources you can use to learn more.
From the Webmaster of this site:Things you should know about this site
This is not a comprehensive history of paleontology or biology, nor is it
the result of systematic research. It's not the work of a professional
scientist, educator or historian. It's just an eclectic collection of old
illustrations and information assembled by an ordinary Web user.
Although this site focuses more on the history of science than on evolution,
it treats evolution as a scientific fact, not "just a theory."
Some of the illustrations have been modified slightly and/or colored to
improve clarity on a computer screen.
