FOIL is a mnemonic designed to help you remember how to multiply two equations together. 

(2x - 3)(x + 3)

First times First 2x * x=2x²

Outer times Outer  2x * 3=6x

Inner times Inner -3 * x=-3x

Last times last  -3 * 3=-9

We end up with 2x² + 6x -3x - 9

We can simplify it by collecting like terms

2x²+ 3x -9
